This is the portal to submit an individual paper. Please note, if you are submitting TWO proposals as first author, you must re-enter the submission portal to complete the second proposal. There is a limit of two submissions per person in a first-author role (i.e., first author of a poster, individual paper, or paper within a symposium; presenter in a discussion session, debate, or innovative session).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Individual Papers

Individual Paper proposals will be grouped into sessions of 4 papers. Sessions will be assigned a Chair by the Program Committee. Each session will be 90 minutes. Presenters will be allotted 15 minutes each; 30 minutes will be reserved for a Q&A period to be led by the Chair. NOTE: Some proposals submitted as paper presentations may be accepted as poster presentations.

Individual paper presentations proposals are encouraged to present empirical findings from new lines of research that are not yet published. Highly rated Individual paper presentations can also be considered for individual poster presentation format if not selected as a paper. Authors are encouraged to build symposia with topic network members.

These standalone individual papers will be organized into thematic sessions regarding a similar theme by the conference organizing committee.

Submissions for paper presentations should include a proposal of no more than 500 words (approximately 2 double-spaced pages) containing the following: title, introduction to the research question(s), description of methods, results, brief discussion and implications. In addition, proposals may contain up to two figures, tables, charts or graphs (reference list is not required).

To submit a paper for consideration in the Presidential Symposium, please submit an individual paper submission and indicate your interest in participating in the Presidential Symposium. Submissions not selected for participation in the Presidential Symposium will be considered for individual paper presentations.

Criteria for Proposal Selection:

1.    Focus of the proposal is on emerging adulthood (age range 18-29).

2.    Importance of the topic.

3.    For empirical presentations, methods must be appropriate for the research question(s). Research using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods are all encouraged.

4.    For Discussion Sessions, Debates, and Innovative Sessions, the topic and structure of the session must be clearly defined and cohesive.

Submission Deadline: March 1st

Notification of Decisions: April 15th.

Expedited Review: To accommodate international travel and special circumstances that may warrant an extended period between decision notification and the conference, we are offering expedited reviews to those whose circumstances qualify. Expedited review will only be granted in situations that would otherwise prohibit a presenter from traveling to the conference. You will be able to indicate this option when you submit your proposal. Proposals submitted for expedited review are due on March 1st and notifications will be granted within the next two weeks (March 15th).
